We offer children's arts and crafts, adult softball, youth baseball and basketball, cheerleading, football, gym hockey, tennis, wrestling, picnicking, twenty-six parks to stroll, and if that's not enough, an annual July 4th celebration and fireworks spectacular. Recreation is "Creating Community Through People, Parks, and Playgrounds." Come be a part of the Piscataway community and see what all the fun is about!

Volunteer Coaching -
If interested in becoming a volunteer coach, please contact Recreation at Recreation@PiscatawayNJ.org and an electronic application will be sent.  All coaches must pass a fingerprinting and background check.

  • Complete the volunteer coaching application.
  • Read and sign the Coaches Model Code of Conduct (Twp. Ordinance 03-41).
  • Read and sign the Consent to be Fingerprinted form for the purpose of state and federal criminal background checks according to the terms, conditions and timetable established by the Department of Recreation (Twp. Ordinance 02-14).
Protective Eyewear - It is now mandatory in New Jersey for all school aged youth that wear corrective eyewear while participating in recreation programs and activities to wear “protective eyewear” that meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards for frames and American National Standards Institute (ASNI) standards for lenses.

Parent Communication - It is your responsibility to keep the Recreation Department informed of changes to your contact information. You must also check the website periodically for updates. Most communication will be sent via email only to the person listed as Parent/Guardian #1 as entered in the online registration. It is Parent/Guardian #1’s responsibility to share information with Parent/Guardian #2 as well as the emergency contact person.

Liability / Accidents - Participants in the Piscataway Recreation sponsored events do so at their own risk and accept full responsibility for all their actions and injuries incurred by their participation. Prior to submitting a claim to the Township, injured parties must first use their own medical/accident insurance as their primary coverage. The insurance offered by Piscataway Township is supplemental and secondary only. If a claim qualifies for consideration, the Township insurance is limited to a maximum payout of no more than $5,000.00 per accident.

Accident Reporting - The coach must report the accident to the Recreation Department immediately. Recreation will provide parent/guardian with an accident report that must be completed within twenty-four (24) hours after the accident and returned in person to the Recreation Department. All claims must be submitted with original bills that are not covered by private insurance.
